At first I thought BAE = defence and why do we need defence; with the exception of Afghanistan we are not really at war with anyone... but then I though.. trading.

Is it possible for us to still create aircrafts etc and sell them to other countries like America? As well as keeping UK jobs, and possibly even creating them, we could easily make money out of it. Or is it possible that other countries are in the same position and don't really need a hefty amount of defence?

I know what you mean though Nikki - they keep saying that we are starting to recover but I am still hearing of job losses. God knows how many years it will take us to come back properley!

More Jobs cut @ BAE Systems

Ok so its not immediate bit it seems like BAE Systems are planning more jobs cuts after thier announcement to cut 500 jobs in telford and leeds earlier this year!

This time though they are proposing over 1000 job cuts at various locations in the UK. They are also potentially closing the whle plant at woodford! This is planned for 2012!

I suppose the plus side (if you can call it that) is that these cuts are not immediate! Employees will have time to come to grips with it and look for other jobs etc!

What I want to know is when will this end?

We keep hearing about signs of recovery buit where are they?

Fizzle someone suggested to me the other day that perhaps they have just bought it to buy up the competition? Hehe which is sly but a good move wouldnt you agree?

So who knows really if we will see this live or if it will just disappear into thin air? It is a differnet way of looking at it isn't it?

I read today that youth unemployment is at 19% percent today so I dont know if that is the proportion of the unemployed or if it is the proportion of youngsters that are unemployed?

Most of what the media reports is exageratted in some way in my opinion - I mean they do what they have to in order to sell papers don't they!

I agree with you about the government needing to get it together and look at the older as well as younger generations! I mean people need jobs of all ages right now! Its not right to help just one section of society is it?

What a decrease? That is a rareity but who can complain at it? Perhaps they are finally taking proper steps in order to encourage people to use public tranport. Do you reckon it will be popular amongst commuters? I hate being late to work and don't want to be taking a risk if I rely on public transport.

I did some sums... my long distance journey costs £25.10 return (with a rail card). I will be saving that extra 10p!!! Do you reckon they could afford to put the price down a little bit more? Or do you reckon all those 10ps will stack up haha ?

This is good news for all of those out there like me that travel to their sussex jobs via public transport each day!

Instead of the usual rise in prices next year it looks as if there is set to be a decrease by 0.4% next year for most rail fares! Isn’t that great news?

Its not a big decrease but still it’s a start don’t you think? In the first time in as long as I can remember that there has been a decrease!

For any of you that are more interested the full article can be read here:- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8206942.stm
